Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11th November 2025

Welcome to Dozey. We’re committed to protecting your and your child’s privacy. This policy sets out how we collect, use, store and protect your personal data when you use our website (www.dozeyapp.com) and the Dozey app.

By using Dozey, you agree to the terms outlined below. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. Who we are

Dozey is operated by Dozey Ltd, a UK-based business. If you have any questions about this policy, you can contact us at: hello@dozeyapp.com

2. What data we collect

We collect data in two ways:

a) Data you provide to us:

  • Your name and email address (parent/carer)
  • Your child’s first name or nickname (optional)
  • Your child’s date of birth or age bracket (e.g. 5–6 years)
  • Your child’s preferences or interests (e.g. unicorns, space, football)
  • Feedback, queries, or support requests

b) Data we collect automatically:

  • Device type, IP address, and general location (country-level only)
  • App usage data (e.g. which meditations were played, favourites selected)
  • Error logs and performance data (for debugging and improvement)

We do not collect sensitive data such as health records, unless you voluntarily provide it (e.g. by stating your child has ADHD in a feedback form).

3. Children’s data and parental consent

Dozey is designed to support parents and carers, not to be used directly by children under 13 without supervision.

We only collect personal information about children (such as their age or interests) with the full knowledge and consent of their parent or guardian.

We do not allow children to create accounts or submit personal data independently.

4. How we use your data

We use personal data to:

  • Tailor content (e.g. personalised meditations, bedtime stories)
  • Improve the app based on usage trends and feedback
  • Provide customer support
  • Send you service-related messages (e.g. feature updates, account notices)
  • Ensure the safety and functionality of the platform

We use Tally for our waitlist sign-up form, a secure online form provider based in the EU, to collect and store sign-up data (such as your name and email). This data is used to notify you about the launch of Dozey and early access opportunities. You can request deletion at any time.

We will never sell your data or use it for advertising without your consent.

5. Research and user interviews

From time to time, we invite parents and carers to take part in user interviews, surveys or research sessions to help us understand family bedtime experiences and improve Dozey.

Participation in research is always voluntary, and you will be clearly informed before taking part about:

  • What information we’ll collect (e.g. name, contact details, child’s age, and discussion notes)
  • The purpose of the research (e.g. to test new ideas, designs, or features)
  • How the data will be used (e.g. internal analysis to enhance Dozey’s products and services)
  • How long your data will be retained (typically no more than 12 months unless otherwise stated)
  • Your right to withdraw at any time by contacting hello@dozeyapp.com

We may use secure tools such as Tally or Zoom to organise research sessions and capture responses. Any recordings, transcripts, or notes are stored securely, accessible only to authorised members of the Dozey team, and are deleted once analysis is complete.

We do not share identifiable research data with third parties. When research findings are shared (e.g. in reports or summaries), all personal data is anonymised.

Under UK GDPR, we process your data based on:

  • Consent – when you sign up, join research, or input your child’s preferences
  • Legitimate interest – to improve our service and personalise your experience
  • Legal obligation – if required by law (e.g. child safeguarding laws)

7. How we store and protect your data

  • All data is stored securely in the UK or EEA with trusted cloud providers
  • We use encryption, password protection, and strict access controls
  • Children’s data is anonymised where possible and never shared externally
  • We keep your data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected

8. Third parties and AI

We may use trusted third-party services (such as OpenAI or Amazon Web Services) to help us generate and deliver personalised content. These services are carefully chosen and meet UK data protection standards.

No third party will be allowed to use your data for their own purposes.

9. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you
  • Correct any inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and associated data (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)

To exercise any of these rights, contact hello@dozeyapp.com

10. Cookies and tracking

Our website may use cookies to enhance functionality (e.g. remembering preferences). You will be notified and can manage your cookie settings when visiting www.dozeyapp.com.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. We’ll notify you of any significant changes via email or in-app message. The latest version will always be available on our website.
